There is a huge variety of different type, thicknesses and style of floorboards. The common thing between them is the way they are installed. It is called "ship deck" pattern. The butt end joints are always staggered in a random pattern for best look. Boards can be either made entirely out of same wood (Solid Wood Boards) or the modern type with plywood subbase (Engineered Boards). The two most common thicknesses are 20mm (Structural Boards) or 16mm (Overlay Boards). All planks come either Pre-finished (with colours and finishes already applied) or Un-finished (to be sanded and finished on site to your specification)
